My Accomplishments In High School

Accomplishments, for the most part, are planned and are inspirations you look forward to. You never settle for second best when you prepared and anticipated the feeling of a triumph. I was humble, but confident. I was ready to debate and ready to win. Unfortunately, my opportunity to win was quickly taken away. For a brief a moment, I allowed the loss of not being able to attend the last debate tournament of the year, determine if I was to excel at anything. Although I did not imagine myself training others for the competition I was supposed to attend, everything played out better than I expected. In every debate, my intention was to always win. Regardless of the sleepless nights I spent preparing, the objective never changed. Among the many other clubs I was in, debates, in particular, lead the course of my high school career. Having built a strong passion in me, debate motivated me to continue striving for success. It encouraged me to go beyond the files we were given and to utilize research. By applying those techniques, I was able to strengthen any argument and most importantly, understand the process of presenting facts. Anger started to build inside of me. It felt as if there was no positive to this negative. Regardless of how I felt, I wanted to fight back, to contribute. Tournament day, despite the fact I had to stay, I realized I still had the opportunity to make an impact. Even though it did not mean a direct win for me, I had the tools to empower someone else.
