One of the most important things I can do to be responsible to America is to say the pledge of allegiance and sing the National Anthem. The beautiful colors of the flag have a meaning and the words of the pledge bring pride to my heart each and every time I say each word. To say the pledge properly and to sign the anthem, Americans must remove all hats and place their right hand over their heart while standing. You must also face the American Flag and take the time to think about what the flag means and represents. It is highly disrespectful if you choose to talk or do irrelevant things during the pledge. I respect the flag and the soldiers for risking their lives to help all Americans.
Unfortunately, there are individuals that are choosing to take a knee with the pledge or with the anthem. They are doing this peacefully, but I truly believe that this is a negative impact on our society. I do not believe that the football player, Mr. Colin Kaepernick knew that his actions of sitting down and then taking a knee would reach the interest level that it has when he did this on national television.

Kaepernick's hope that will create change through a peaceful protest. Other professional athletes have also begun to raise a fist during the national anthem as their sign of peaceful protest as their sign of concern with racial relations.
I feel that their act of peaceful protest, even though the national anthem is not an actual law, but an unwritten law to respect America. It is a peaceful teaching moment no matter what you choose to do, kneel or stand, verses what some cities have had with violent protest, shooting and killing of innocent police officers and also brutally hurting others in public.
