Have you ever have to leave your home because it's so depressing and hopeless? In Sherman Alexie's book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian is about a young boy that goes by the name of Junior, who leaves his depressing high school and goes to Reardan high to find hope and not be sucked into the alcohol and drugged life of the reservation. There are many themes in, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. One theme would be, don’t give up on hope but instead find.

"All your friends. All the Bullies, and their mothers and Fathers have given up, too. And their grandparents gave up and their grandparents before them. And me and every other teacher here. We're all defeated."(Alexie 42). To explain, Mr.P told Junior that pretty much everyone on the reservation has given up and lost hope.
The last example would be “I want to go to Reardon,” I said again. I couldn’t believe I was saying it. For me, it seemed as real as saying “ I want to fly to the moon.”(Alexei 46). The reason for this is because Junior was going to go to Reardon to find hope and be around people who have hope. To summarize, Mr.P was explaining to Junior that he had leave the reservation to find hope or he'll be beaten down by the people who live there, so by tell Junior all of these things it made him take the first big step to living a happier life. So by Mr.P convincing Junior to switch school Junior had a chance to find hope.Don't give up on hope but instead find it is one of the many themes in The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian.In conclusion finding hope is the many ways of living a happy life because you'll be able to do the things you want to
