This essay shows that you’re a sophisticated writer who’s very interested in current events, who has strong, intelligent opinions, and who has an effective command of the English language. However, the essay resembles a persuasive research paper and is not the kind of essay the prompt is looking for. While it very well may be that you have extensive knowledge on the subject of Middle Eastern conflict, it is entirely possible that you quickly leafed through an article and simply regurgitated the information and author’s perspective--colleges unfortunately won’t be able to tell or trust you, which is why they want information about you, not what you know. Admissions officers have the ability to access thousands of articles written by experts on whatever subject they desire at any time, but you’re the only one who can best explain yourself, and you are the subject they are most interested in while they’re reading your essay.

To strengthen your essay, fully use this limited space to express about your identity, your background, your character, your experiences, your story, your aspirations. If you want to talk about the Arab Spring, make sure it is so important to you that it defines you in some way, and explain why this is. Keep in mind that we're high school students without any degrees, speaking about controversial, intense events/subjects that require an immense amount of understanding and have whole majors dedicated to them.
