Many have said that romance brings love and affection, but when taken to the extreme, it can lead to tragedy and despair. William Shakespeare’s tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, traces romance of two lovers. Romeo and Juliet is a very deep and profound play about how two ‘star-crossed’ lovers met at a ball. The feud between the Montagues and Capulets prevents the love of Romeo and Juliet and ultimately results in two unfortunate deaths. It may be difficult to determine who is to blame for the deaths, because both of their lives had been influenced and controlled by many people. The characters who are ultimately to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet are Friar Lawrence, Lord Capulet and the nurse. Among some of the characters in the play, Friar Lawrence implements the proscribed marriage and constructs a plan to make sure that Romeo and Juliet end up together. “ Wisely and slow. They stumble that run fast.” Friar Lawrence has agreed to marry Romeo and Juliet but wants to make sure that they know what they are getting into. He want them to go wisely and slow.
