Patient safety has become a major concern in the health-care system. Nurses observation at the bedside is essential to their ability to ensure patient safety. Nurses are involved in the provision of health care in every area of the health care system, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Through their assessment and observance nurses act to keep patients safe, identify areas of risk and recognize situations in need of improvement.
