The biopsychosocial model is described Fiore (2011) as “the influence of genetic, biological, psychological, and social/environmental forces on development” (p. 13).
Genetics affect the offspring’s psychical development, for example, a parent(s) can pass on healthy genes, which benefit their children, and on the other hand, a parent(s) can pass on diseases, such as, kidney disease which will have a negative effect on development. Genetics write the first chapter in the book of a person’s development.
