Imagine being in one of the cities in Oklahoma where there is discrimination against rich and poor. The Outsiders takes place during this time. Although the book and the movie are both very similar, there are many differences to them. In the movie many things are not included. However there are no scenes that were not in the book. While there are some similarities in The Outsiders book and movie the differences are much more clear. The Outsiders is a very good book. It has very good wording and is very easy to understand. The movie does not start the same way as the book starts. Instead of Pony being jumped it shows when Johnny, Pony and Dally go and walk around places. It jumps right to when they are at the drive in movie. It has some different dialog then the book has. It says the foul things that Dally is saying to Cherry at the drive in movie. There is a change in where they live too. Greasers live on the North Side and the Soc’s live on the South Side. When Johnny and Pony are hiding, they try to catch their own food and a racoon tried to get into the church. In the movie, after the boys save the children in the fire, Pony’s brothers come and take him straight home. They did not talk to the doctor. Also this is only the second time the patrons are being introduced to Soda and Darry. The first time was when Darry hit Pony. When skipping ahead Pony did not pass out after Dally was shot and there was no trial at the end. There may be many differences but the rest is the same. Overall the book and the movie are very much alike. In conclusion there may be many differences to The Outsiders book and movie. While there are some similarities in The Outsiders book and movie the differences are much more clear. In the movie there are tiny details not in it or little things switched around. Overall The Outsiders is a very good book to read. It has great vocabulary and always keeps you on the edge of your seat. It should be read and watched by all. The movie is very accurately linked to the book making it almost like you are reading about
