“Muckrakers” is a phrase coined by President Teddy Roosevelt to refer to the writers who specialized in tales about the schemes in politics and industry. Magazines grow in popularity thanks to the muckraking of Ida Tarbell.
They were important to the movement because through their pieces, they were able to bring about reform
amendment enabled the direct election of senators.
It is important because it allowed the people of each state to choose who would represent their state in the U.S. Senate instead of state legislators choosing who would represent their state and it also provides a way for the states to fill a senate seat that became vacant in the middle of a term.
Zimmerman Note was a telegram from German Foreign Minister to German Ambassador in
Mexico that was intercepted by British agents. The message proposed alliance between Germany and Mexico and promised if war broke out between Germany and the U.S., Germany would support Mexico in recovering lost territory in Texas, Arizona and New Mexico. This was important since it pushed the US resolve closer to going to war with Germany and her allies in WWI. The
