Why Basketball Is Important

When people play basketball, sometimes they don’t always do it for fun. Some people do it to earn scholarships to contribute to the cost of their higher education. Other people participate in the sport of basketball as it relieves stress and they just enjoy it. Plus people do it to forget about what bad things are going on in their lives. People who play basketball sometimes do it to relieve stress, and they enjoy the sport. It helps them to forget some of the things that are going on in their life, and helps them relax. Wyatt Dinwiddie once said to me “That 60 minutes on the court I just forget everything, all I focus on is my team and the game”. When I play basketball I focus on the game. Even though it is still a team sport and winning and losing is one of the main focuses it is more important that the individual talent excels which is what adds to their chances for scholarships. It can be very important to enable students to continue their education after high school because it is very expensive and scholarships aid in that expense. For example my cousin was an excellent basketball player and played all through high school. The family didn’t have much money because they had five children that were all involved in sports and other activities. Upon her senior year graduation she was offered several scholarships from Missouri State University that almost paid her a full ride. People play basketball for many different reasons. One of the main reasons that people of all ages play this sport is because they enjoy it, and have fun competing. Whether it be a complete team sport or whether it be just shooting hoops with friends it is enjoyable and if you like basketball it’s a good time. One of the most fun times that I can remember having is when I was playing a basketball game of horse against my family.
