Most things happen for a reason, so why did Texans fight in the Civil War. On February 23, 1861 Texas approved secession from the United States of America and just two months after found themselves fighting in the Civil War. Why did Texans fight in the Civil War? Texans fought in the Civil War because of their love for Texas, for their state’s rights, and right of owning slaves. You can see that they had a great love for Texas because letters from John Wesley Rabb in Document D say so. In a letter to his mom he states that he won't marry anywhere else other than Texas which shows a great love for Texas. In another letter he says that he wants to be home so bad which also proves my point. Finally, my last reason would be that he states in another
