Space travel the art of sending humans into an oxygenless void at 7.9 kilometers per second. With the earth in constant crisis, it may responsible to expand to another planet to ensure humanity’s survival. Space travel has also produced great achievements that have helped humanity. In addition, countries that fund space travel demonstrate unamity with their peers, as well as leadership as a world power. Despite The National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) current lack of funding, the United States through NASA should continue to fund manned missions to Mars for the survival of our species, the scientific achievements and discoveries possible, and the opportunity to demonstrate our political and economic leadership. Building the international space station was a unifying event in which many countries worked together to create a feat of science. Russia and America were able to collaborate, despite then being geopolitical rivals. Furthermore the United States should not lose its position as the dominant country in space travel. The United States was the first county and remains only country to land a man on the moon. Recently, NASA has begun working with private companies such as Space X to improve supply missions to the space station. If the United States cuts funding to NASA, the country’s symbolic position as the only world superpower will be diminished. Countries like China are increasing funding to space programs. If China reaches Mars before The United States, then China would be considered the most powerful country in space travel. China surpassing the United States’ exploration would be a major blow to America’s position as the dominant space travel
