In the book, A Long Walk to Water, there are 2 characters who face their own challenges differently. The first character in the book has the name of Salva Dut. The setting of the book starts in Sudan with Salva at school when suddenly the refuge soldiers come and attack his village. In the middle of this attack Salva loses his family. He has to face the challenge of being alone in the desert at only the age of 10. He now is in the desert alone with only a couple of people, with no food or water. Salva spends months without seeing his family and months walking to find the refugee camps in Ethiopia . During the search for the camp Salva grows to be a big leader in his group.
