In the middle of the book, A Long Walk To Water by Linda Sue Park, the author's tone is miserable. Salva was on his long walk to a place without war and this day just happens to be not so great. That day was really hot and in the text, it stated, “Each minute of walking in the arid heat felt like an hour.” This shows that Salva was miserable because it was so hot that day of walking. Later on in the text it talked about how Salva had water but he was annoyed that he couldn’t drink a lot of it, like it says in the text, “ It was the hardest thing that Salva had ever done, taking only tiny sips, when his body cried out for huge gulps of thirst-quenching, life-giving, water.” This sentence shows that Salva felt miserable because he had so much
