Who’s The Killer?
Romeo and Juliet is a tragic death story, so there has to be someone who is to blame for their deaths. It is easy to say that The Capulets and Montagues hate each other. It must have been hard for Romeo and Juliet to be together. So who would you blame for their deaths? Ultimately, the people who are responsible for Romeo and Juliet's deaths are Friar John, Friar Lawrence, Romeo and Juliet.
One reason why Friar Lawrence is at stake is because Friar Lawrence gave Juliet the sleeping potion to make it look like she is dead. All of this was his plan “Drunk all, and left no friendly drop to help me after”(5.1.1)- Juliet. While she was sleeping, Friar Lawrence is sending Romeo a letter to let him know what their plans are. Before Friar John gets to him with the letter, Romeo's friend Balthasar tells Romeo about his lovers death. Once Romeo finds out, he leaves his home to go back to the city he was banned from to kill himself, next to his lover Juliet. This kind of hate has been in their family for generations and they both knew that once their families found out that they were dating, chaos would happen. Once their parents found out Romeo and Juliet were put to shame. Juliet’s Dad was gonna make sure that she would marry Paris. When Juliet tries to talk to her mother as she is crying and says, “make the bridal bed in that dim monument where Tybalt lies”(3.5.58)-Juliet. She is saying that if you make me marry Paris I will kill myself and you can lay me next to Tybalt's grave. Lady Capulet responds to that by saying, “Talk not to me, for I’ll not speak a word.”(3.5.59)-Lady Capulet.
