Polished Essay Rough Draft
In this essay I will talk about how Greek Mythology started and how it goes into the beginning of Greek Philosophy. The folklore about Greek Gods and Goddesses in ancient Greece had become an important part of everyday life. In Greek mythology the earliest Greek myths were included as part of tradition which had started from the Early Helladic Era.
It is said that before greek philosophy came about there were people such as poets, storytellers, and myth-makers. I feel that the role myth plays in molding the world-view or pre-philosophical ancient Greece are the beautiful stories and hymns about people whether they are normal everyday people, heroes/heroins and/or Gods. I love how the days of the week are named after certain Gods and also so are the planets in our solar system. This also shows me that mythology has given and shown me satisfactory answers about the origin and structure of the universe. Still in astronomy today it is brought up and talked about on how the Greeks who had invented/created models to explain the sun, stars, and …show more content…
So with that these thirty-six unknown hymns were know as the Homeric Hymns. These hymns range from 3 lines to 500 lines and speak about the Gods and Goddesses. “ Muse, tell me the deeds of golden Aphrodite the Cyprian, who stirs up sweet passion in the gods and subdues the tribes of mortal men and birds that fly in air and all the many creatures that the dry land rears, and all that the sea: all these love the deeds of rich-crowned Cytherea”(Homeric Hymn to Aphrodite). Mythology is how people express the tenets they have on the world held by a specific religion or culture. Mythology we could say was one of the earlier steps to philosophy because in ways it did provided a view of the world and something for people to
