“Without hard work nothing grows but weeds.” This quote by Gordan B. Hinckley is relevant because it references the amount of hard work it required to develop a worthwhile product. High school athletes should be expected to sustain a specific grade point average. Three justifications for this opinion are the importance of a high school education, college requirements, and future opportunities for these athletes. The first reason behind this opinion is the significance of the high school education. If the school districts put an urgency on the athlete’s GPA the athlete is forced to put more thought into their schoolwork.
