I have been put into many situations where I had to change my beliefs of things. A time where I was put into a situation was growing up as a son of a basketball star on the rise. My dad and certain family members put so much pressure on me to become a great basketball player like my dad. I would hear about his era and what he did it encouraged me to want to play. It went from your dad was one of the best point guards in South Carolina and he won his team a championship.So I took on the responsibility of learning to play. I played on church leagues, school teams, and recreational leagues. Never been that good of a basketball player I was average ball player meaning I had what it took to make the team. It was my 7th grade year when I found out basketball wasn't for me it turned me away. …show more content…
It took a change when I wanted something else or when I had talks with my dad about him never teaching me how to play I had to learn on my own or cousin teaching me. I think once I got older telling him that if he taught me when I was little I wouldn't be just a average player. I could be someone great as I begin to realize I couldn't take on his shoes, they were filled because that's all he knew how to do. With my area i could be better than him in things like I knew my dad couldn't shoot like me . Still, today I love the game of basketball it actually kind of grew on me I'm better now then I was in basketball in middle and high school. I try to pick match wit my pops on who is better.But all this to say you don't have to take the same route as your parents did you can create your on route and keep it
