Julius Caesar’s grandnephew Octavian later known as Caesar Augustus was best known as the first emperor after the defeat of his grandfather’s friend Mark Antony. Caesar Augustus creates a long lasting government, new public buildings and a new civil service to satisfy the empire. The Pax Romana era was the most prosperous era known to history. Five emperors came out of that era and when the last one Marcus Aurelius died a period of conflict came along. Soldiers who had no loyalty to the empire made it impossible for the empire to defeat the oncoming Germanic tribes. The economic conflicts were no better the trading industry, labor industry and the farming industry declined so dramatically that Roman money began losing value.
