Kevin's Morquio Syndrome In the film The Mighty, the little boy Kevin, has Morquio Syndrome, a very rare birth defect that affects the human body. The disease in the movie was portrayed accurately in some aspects and inaccurately in others. To begin with, some important aspects of the disease are, pronounced facial features like, bulging forehead, scalp veins, and flat bridged nose, short stature, with very short torso, knock-knees, and large head. It also has aspects like enlarged heart, abnormal bone and spine development, and heart and vision problems. In The Mighty, the child with the disease does, and does not act out the disease accurately.

The bones and features do not grow properly, but the organs still do, which can cause many problems. The organs, since the body is so abnormal and smaller, the organs have less room to stay, so when they grow, it can cause serious health issues. In the movie, Kevin's organs are growing at a faster rate than his body. This almost completely accurately shows the effects of Morquio syndrome on the inside of the body.

The movie in my opinion has its accuracies and inaccuracies when it comes to the disease. The movie does have important features of the disease, but leaves out many details. In the movie, the kid only has knock-knees, crutches, a hunched back and organ enlargement compared to his body. Even though these are important, they contrast to the real disease by excluding key features like the small body, dwarfism, and other features that are shown. In my opinion though, they did a good job of replicating the diseases key
