The National Honor Society expects a student to achieve a 3.75 GPA, participate in school and community activities and has the qualities of leadership and moral character. When I received my National Junior Honor Society certificate my freshman year at Ursuline, I knew that achieving acceptance into the NHS was my main goal. I believe that I demonstrate these qualities and would be a great asset to the National Honor Society. Leadership can be defined as the act of leading a group of people or organization. Over the summer I became a camp counselor. This position required me to be ready for any situation, to provide fun activities for my 7-8-year-old campers and to use my voice. I have participated in Girl Scouts, alter serving and the Holy Name Society. Being a Girl Scout for nine years was a great experience. I learned to help others, to be respectful and to be open to other opinions. During my time as a Girl Scout I volunteered at nursing homes, animal shelters and helped raise money for charities. I have also volunteered my time to God. Being an alter serving for four years helped strengthen my relationship with God. Alter serving was an amazing experience and I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to become one. I have also participated in the Holy Name Society. As part of this society I aided in setting up refreshments, food and selling raffle tickets after special masses. These special masses were for the families of the Yonkers fire and police departments. I believe that I exhibit the attributes of being a member of the National Honor Society. I continue to strive to be the best I can be and put effort into every problem I face. I know that I would be a great example for other students trying to achieve this goal.
