I would be a great candidate for the National Honor Society because of my current and past scholarship at Darien High School. I have achieved immense success in the challenges presented to me in all academic programs and have created opportunities that serve me well for the future. The opportunities at DHS are outstanding and my goal is to make the most of them. In addition, I have spent many years performing community service through organizations like Person-to-Person in Darien and Neighbors Link in Stamford. I have met many interesting people from different backgrounds and been exposed to the difficulties those face in the community. Neighbors Link is an organization where I have spent many hours, almost every weekend and several weeks during the summer, and worked with people as well as groups from all over Central America, the United States, and the Caribbean. My service at Person-to-Person has brought me a perspective in the hardships people face as well. This year I have become a Link Leader and assist the freshman in transitioning into high school.

In addition to volunteering, I have played Varsity Soccer for two years and JV soccer as a freshman. In the spring I played soccer in a national league; during the winter I participate in many local tournaments too. I made it into the Western Region Band after auditioning my sophomore year playing the clarinet. I was given the honor a being a test participant in the Chemistry Olympiad as well. Furthermore, I was recognized for my achievements in Spanish by acceptance into the Spanish National Honor Society.
