The passage explains the importance and the purpose of education and how it changed lately and brought significant attention to the human rationality about attending college. Back in 1969, going to college manifested a generation who want to actually learn about something that benefits the student in the future. Furthermore, the purpose of the education was to improve the student life experience and to foster the acknowledgement for the next generation.

In comparison, the reason now for going to college is to protect a job that can pay the costs of living in the future. “In 1979, half of the students said they were attending college to “be able to make more money”; by 1991, that figure had climbed to three quarters”.

As an illustration, my purpose of going to college and getting education has been influenced by the previous fellow generations. Not only that, but also, my view of my past experience which is related to an accident that caused a severe damage in my leg. I had a close connection to know about bones and they have chances to break then heal. Despite the hard time I went through, I managed to look at the full part of the glass and decide to become an orthopedic surgeon! I’m determined to know why I’m going to college and what I want to study. Moreover, going to college can assist me to bring something new to the field that I’m inspired by.

The generation in 1969 should’ve been introduced to think about the purpose of the degree after they graduate. They could perfectly learn spectacular things that grows their interest of life and gain different perspectives. But, not using it in the right spot can eliminate the talent and all the effort that was spent during college
