On the eve of March 25, 1911, a factory fire killed hundreds of innocent people in Manhattan, New York. It all started in the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory with a bucket of cotton scraps and within eighteen minutes the eighth story of the building was burning. Nobody was prepared for this. Many of the workers were women and children, most of whom could not speak english. To begin with, the working conditions were inhumane for the reason that from the work schedule to the structure of the building nothing was in consideration for the people who worked there.The building only had one fire escape and one out of four elevators working.
