The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory was a tragic incident that happened in New York on March 25, 1911. The Triangle Shirtwaist factory were located on the eighth, ninth, and tenth floors of the Asch Building. A fire was caused by a cigarette that was thrown into one of the scrap bins and happened to cause the deaths of 146 employees, 123 women and 23 men, the cause of their deaths were not only because of the fire, smoke inhalation, or falling or jumping to their deaths.
The owners had the doors to the stairwells and exits locked, which they they was a good idea because it would prevent workers from taking breaks when they were not supposed to and to reduce theft. Many of the workers who tried to escape could not, so instead of burning to death,
