Link Crew has been a tremendous part of my high school career. I came to Perkiomen Valley High School from a small parochial school my freshman year. I knew only two people coming into the school. One of my closest friends happened to be a senior that year and she was more helpful than she could have ever known. I knew I wanted to be that for someone eventually. When I was given the opportunity to interview for Link Crew I was thrilled. I could not wait to be the person that freshman went to for help, advice and mentoring. In Link Crew I help freshman become accustomed to life in the high school. I become the point of contact for issues with time management, homework and general high school woes. I have loved being able to be there for the …show more content…
In order to be apart of Link Crew I submitted an application and went through an interview process to become apart of the organization. In Link Crew I was able to interact with the high school counselors, my peers and the incoming freshman. I worked at the high school over the summer in order to train for the orientation day, at which we spent the whole day at the high school learning how to work with the class of 2019 and helping them grow comfortable. I hope to have been able to make a difference in their freshman year and in their lives. What I have found most challenging is gaining the trust of my group to open up to me. I can remember as a freshman I was incredibly intimidated by my Link Crew leaders and as a result I have done so much to ensure that is not the experience my freshman experience. If I was given a chance to do this again I would not change anything. I care about my group and my Link Crew partner. I hope my freshman feel the same
