At the beginning of the school year I didn’t know what my Senior Project would be. I knew that I wanted to do a project that would help other people, but I didn't know where to start. After talking with my teacher Mrs. Bork, I decided to do a clothing and diaper drive for the Family Nurturing Center (FNC). The FNC is a non-profit organization that tries to prevent child abuse and help to support families in need. I liked this idea because I can help other people and complete my senior project at the same time.
After deciding to organize a diaper drive, I filled out a volunteer application for the FNC, and typed a letter to Colette Pare-Miller, the manager at FNC, introducing myself to her and asking if I could do my Senior Project with the

It was scary to reach out to someone I don't know and not knowing if they would say yes or no. I enjoyed designing the poster and putting them up in the school. When someone dropped off an item they got a piece of candy. We collected two large bins of clothing and diapers and delivered them to the FNC.
Some of employability skills I'm developing as a result of this project are communication, responsibility, and self-motivation. In order to start my project I had to communicate with Colette, Mrs. Bork, and Mr. Rhoades which helped me develop communication skills. Because this is my project, I'm responsible for getting everything done on time which helps to develop responsibility. There was nobody to tell me what to do or when to do it, so I had to be self-motivated.
The next step is to contact Colette and find out if I could volunteer at the FNC. I am curious and independent person interested in exploring new ideas and using my creativity. Now that the clothing drive is over I would like to find another way to help out at the FNC. I don't really know what I would do at the FNC, so I need to talk to Colette about whether I should do another drive or if there is something else I can do to help at the
