• The time period that I was there today consisted of the students completing morning bell work, a math test, self-reading with AR tests, sight word practice, spelling tests, and an art project.
• Mrs. Bressler has it set up in the morning so that when students come in they immediately practice hand writing, and some have books they need to read in the morning before instruction starts.
• Before giving the math test, Mrs. Bressler read through the test with the whole class before having the children start. I sat with three children who needed extra help reading the test, and read them each question before they solved it.
• I was able to jump in and work with the children today. I pulled students aside to practice sight words with them. They have note cards

I was able to observe some students that need extra support in some areas.
• Mrs. Bressler uses a clip chart, and a cotton ball jar to extrinsically reward students.
• She uses “class class, yes yes” and “boys and girls give me five” to gain students attention when needed. She has a class of 29 students.
Today, I liked that I was already able to just jump in with the class and work with the students. I enjoyed talking with and getting to know some of the children in the class. This classroom feels like a comfortable environment for the children, which makes me feel comfortable working in this classroom with the teacher and the students. Mrs. Bressler is allowing for me to work with the students every time I come into the classroom. She wants me to be able to have practice with small group and whole group instruction with the kids. She is planning on having me and my practicum peer in the class teach math lessons. My peer and I will be taking turns switching between doing spelling tests with the kids and math lessons. Her goal is to have us running the classroom Friday mornings; I am very excited about
